BIRDS

Birds sure know how to make a mess, two birds mate and have a family and within a couple years your house or commerical building can literally be destroyed. Pigeons are attracted to the scent of their mother’s droppings and will stay together on your structure until the end of their life cycles. They leave droppings on buildings, kill vegetation and are aesthetically displeasing when they leave their droppings on benches, buildings and vehicles.

They are also notorious for carrying several disease-causing organisms. Mosquitoes feed on the birds then on us and the disease is spread to humans. West Nile, Ornithosis, Enecephalitis, Newcastle disease, Toxoplasmosis, Salmonella food poising and other diseases are spread by birds in one form or another. Histoplasmosis is a fungal disease that can infect people, it is caused by working in and around pigeon manure.

During the warmer temperatures, birds will seek new nesting places. They will search for spots that would provide them with the basic necessities for survival, food, water and shelter. With these three elements a bird can set up shop in your garden or house, taking away food and water sources. By blocking ideal nesting spots you can eliminate opportunities for potential problems. Common nesting areas are in dryer vents, eaves, open attics, garages, barns or boathouses, under roof tiles and under A.C. units. Birds can nest high so check beams, ledges and rafters.
