Raccoon are OUT!!!

Raccoon’s are already active for this year and we are seeing very large litters so far. Mother raccoon’s can become very aggressive when protecting their young.  Never try to approach a raccoon especially when it is near its young. Closing the raccoon’s entrance into the attic while the mother is out is never a good idea!! The mother will do anything it can to get back to its young.  Closing the entrance hole while the raccoon is still in the attic could result in the raccoon chewing its way out into the living space of the house.

Carpenter Ants

Take a look at how this well established carpenter ant colony reacts when when a light misting of pesticide was applied to their home.  These ants have been infesting this residence for years!  Total Pest Management to the rescue!

Angry Squirrel

Recently we received a call from a home owner complaining about noise in her attic. After our inspection it was discovered that a squirrel had moved in. The home owner had tried unsuccessfully to block the hole with expanding foam.  With the use of a one way door and a live trap were were able to get the squirrel out and relocate it.  The hole was repaired and everyone lived happily ever after!

Bed Bug Infestation

This week at Total Pest Management, we were faced with the challenge of dealing with a bed bug infestation in a unit where the customer was blind. The two main issues were that she did not know that she had bed bugs so the problem went unchecked for quite some time and the second issue was that she could not do the preparations that we required to perform a proper and effective treatment.

The solution: We arranged for her to stay at a relative’s house, taking only clean / laundered clothing with her, while we prepped her unit, which involved bagging and doing all her laundry. Her furniture was vacuumed and then placed in our Heat Treatment Unit and treated with heat to kill anything that may be on or in the furniture. The entire unit was vacuumed and treated with steam to effectively kill anything that was in the unit. A light residual pesticide application was performed.

It was a lot of effort but another successful treatment by Total Pest management.
The next step is to place a VERIFY unit in the unit to which will allow us to confirm our success.

The Verify Unit works by mimicking a humans CO2 and using a pheromone to attract bed bugs allowing us to confirm if there is any further activity.
